Spring Break Camp
Share in all the fun at the YMCA this Spring with our annual Spring Break Camp. Campers will meet new friends during games, swimming, field trips, and special events. Sports campers will enjoy both basketball and soccer tournaments, while Splash campers dive into water games and daily swim clinics. Everyone participates, everyone learns, and everyone has fun!!
Dates: March 15th - 19th (Monday - Friday)

2009-2010 After School Program
If you are looking for a safe, educational, and fun environment for your child during the after school hours, check out the Shades Valley After School Program. Transportation form your child's school, a healthy afternoon snack, and a wide variety of activities are all provided.
Our Mission:
1.) Values & Assets - We foster a baker's dozen in every yong person. In addition to bringing the YMCA character values to life, counselors nurture nine more personal assets in all after school students regardless of race, religion, or national origin.

Planning/Decision Making, Resistance Skills, Peaceful Conflict
Resolution, Equality and Social Justice, Youth as Resources, and High

2.) Fitness & Nutrition - Our new, coordinated approach is a CATCH to learn.
CATCH - Coordinated Approach to Child Health, brings fitness and
nutrition education to every after school student, masquerading as
games.
3.) Education - Homework assistance, projects, and reading expands the school day. Education takes many forms in YMCA after school including discovering new friends, learning about sportsmanship and fair play, and developing leadership skills, each on focusing on spirit, mind, and body.
4.) Safety - Your child's safety and well-being is important to us.
From counselor-to-student ratios, to daily protocols and routines, keeping your child safe at the YMCA is a promise we make to you.
5.) Fun - ALWAYS!

After School Hours:
Time of school dismissal - 6 p.m.
Recreation Swim:
Children can swim and play in our indoor or outdoor pool (depending of weather/season). Please make sure your child packs their swimsuit and towel. Children will take a swim test before entering the pool.

Vestavia City Schools: Vestavia East, Vestavia West, Vestavia Central, Cahaba Heights, Pizitz Middle, Homewood High School.
Homewood City Schools: Hall Kent, Edgewood, Shades Cahaba, Homewood Middle, Homewood High School.
Hoover City Schools: Green Valley, Rocky Ridge, Shades Mountain, Gwin, Simmons Middle.
Other: Gresham Elementary, Our Lady of Sorrows, All Saints, Creative Montessori, Southminster Day School.
Fun Club
Come join in the fun with the Shades Valley YMCA when your children are out of school. We will be open all day to provide your children with quality childcare. They will participate in activities such as: swimming, games, arts & crafts, field trips, character development, and more.
