Reduced health care costs
General Electric reduced health care costs for employee members of its corporate fitness program by 38 percent in an 18-month period, while the health care costs for non-members rose 21 percent. Costs for employee/members average $757 each year; costs for non-members were $941.
Increased productivity
Union Pacific Railroad found that 80 percent of its employees believed that their exercise program was helping them be more productive at work. Seventy-five percent thought that regular exercise was helping them achieve higher levels of relaxation and concentration at work.
Reduced absenteeism
DuPont reduced absenteeism by more than 47 percent over six years through its corporate fitness programs.
Reduced turnover
The Canadian Life Assurance Company found turnover among fitness program participants was more than 32 percent lower over a seven-year period compared to non-participants.
Positive return on investment
One company even found that its corporate fitness program had a 250 percent return on investment: $2.51 for every $1 invested over a five-year period. In addition, the ability to attract better employees and bolster morale and commitment are excellent benefits of corporate wellness programs. The majority of companies that offer employee wellness programs do so through high quality, multi-activity facilities. Typically, only very large corporationsthose with more than 1,000 employeesfind it cost efficient to build and operate on-site wellness centers.
Corporate Membership in the Birmingham YMCA
With a corporate membership in the Birmingham YMCA, we can tailor an employee fitness program for you that will be beneficial for both the employee and for the company.
Corporate memberships are designed for five or more employees. All employees will receive a 50 percent discount off the joining fee.
After that, you can personalize your corporate membership in a variety of ways. Some companies partially subsidize their employees' membership dues through incentive programs, requiring the employee to attend a certain number of times each month in order to be reimbursed. Others choose to pay the joining fee for each employee who joins the Birmingham YMCA. We can help you make this benefit beneficial to everyone.
Most corporate memberships are administered through payroll deduction. The Birmingham YMCA sends one bill each month to a designated contact. Payment of the monthly dues can also be handled through the employees personal checking account, with an automatic debit once a month. Annual or semi-annual payments are also accepted.
